Temperature-driven nonclassical light.

With reference to two well known scenarios, we discuss, for nonclassical light, the competition between quantum and thermal effects. It is seen that for nonclassical light to be produced some amount of temperature-induced disorder is needed plus quantum fluctuations of order ħ squared.

Nonclassical Light in Interferometric Measurements

It is shown that the even and odd coherent light and other nonclassical states of light like superposition of coherent states with different phases may replace the squeezed light in interferometric gravitational wave detector to increase its sensitivity. Nonclassical interferometry with intelligent light.

We study the phase sensitivity of SU(2) and SU(1,1) interferometers fed by two-mode field states which are intelligent states for Hermitian generators of the SU(2) and SU(1,1) groups, respectively. Intelligent states minimize uncertainty relations and this makes possible an essential reduction of the quantum noise in interferometers. Exact closed expressions for the minimum detectable phase shi...

Ramsey spectroscopy with nonclassical light sources.

The Ramsey spectroscopy @1# is a very useful technique yielding high resolution, and has been extensively used in many different contexts @2,3#. The signal in such a setup has been calculated and interpreted in terms of the interference between two quantum-mechanical pathways @4#. In view of the current interest in doing spectroscopy @5# with squeezed light @6# and other types of nonclassical r...
